Acute intoxication with lead acetate negatively affects cardiogenesis and functional parameters of the heart. Lead acetate causes hemorrhages, necrotic changes in the myocardium, inflammatory and cicatricial changes, but the ultrastructural basis of the cardiotoxic effect is not sufficiently studied. The aim of the work is to investigate the structural basis of the cardiotoxic effect of lead acetate. Object and research methods. Pregnant female Wistar rats (average weight 200-220 g) received 2.5% aqueous solution of lead acetate (50 mg/kg, 1 time/day, 2 weeks) before the onset of pregnancy and throughout the entire period of the experiment. The control group consisted of intact animals. On the 1st and 7th day of postnatal development, material (the apex of the left ventricle of the heart) was collected for electron microscopic examination. The samples were fixed in a 2.5%
