110 Pict. 2. Subxiphoid extrapleural pericardiotomy. Sanitation of the pericardial cavity. Pict. 3. Performing subxiphoid pericardioscopy in a wounded patient with RTR on the background of combat chest trauma. Subxiphoid extrapleural pericardiotomy can be performed on almost all patients with exudative pericarditis of various etiologies, regardless of the patient's condition, stage and etiology of the disease. It is the method of choice for suspected purulent pericarditis, as it minimizes the possibility of dissemination of the bacterial process. The only contraindication to its implementation is the presence or suspicion of acute dissecting aneurysm of the ascending aorta.
