183 UDC 81’373.45:81’42:81’25 Shevchuk Valeriia Anatoliivna Iryna Tonkonoh Student of State University of Trade and Economics MEDIA NEOLOGISMS OF 2022–2025: THEIR FORMATION, USE, AND TRANSLATION IN ENGLISH-LANGUAGE JOURNALISM The rapid sociopolitical, technological, and cultural transformations of 2022– 2025 have significantly influenced the vocabulary of global media. English-language journalism, operating as one of the fastest mechanisms of social communication, has become a major generator and disseminator of new lexical units. Media neologisms emerging during this period reflect the intensity of global crises, the explosive development of artificial intelligence, and the growing importance of climate-related discourse. The dynamicnature of journalism requiresconcise, expressive, and emotionally driven vocabulary, which explains the rapid emergence and circulation of new terms. The aim of this article is to analyse the formation, use, and translation of media neologisms of 2022–2025, as well as to explore the challenges they pose for journalistic and professional communication in multilingual contexts. The formation of new lexical items in this period has been strongly influenced by geopolitical events. Since 2022, terms related to war reporting, diplomacy, global security, cyber operations, and economic sanctions have appeared with remarkables peed. Expressions such as ―weaponized migration‖, ―energy blackmail‖, ―drone swarm warfare‖, and ―sanction fatigue‖ have entered widespread journalistic use. These units condense complex phenomena into compact verbal markers, allowing journalists to convey multi-layered meanings quickly and efficiently. Such neologisms not only describe events but also shape the narrative through which audiences interpret geopolitical processes.
