Implications for Human Functioning A coherent state: refines perception, strengthens emotional regulation, stabilizes behaviour, deepens interpersonal interactions, amplifies creativity and meaning-making. This model provides a foundation for studying states, coherence, and transformation. 3.6. Operational Layer: Five-Level Background State Model To ensure that the concept of the coherent state is not only theoretical but also empirically investigable, the model incorporates an operational tool — the Five-Level Background State Model. It describes how inner organization manifests through behaviour, bodily markers, emotional dynamics, and patterns of interaction with the environment. A background state is defined as the stable psychophysiological wave on which a person functions outside of emotional peaks or stress responses. This wave sets the limits of perception, regulation capacity, and overall coherence. The model distinguishes five developmental levels of background state: 1. Reactive Level — impulsivity, physical tension, fragmented attention dominate. 2. Affective Level — emotional waves govern behaviour more strongly than intention. 3. Regulatory Level — emergence of basic skills of awareness and self- regulation. 4. Integrated Level — alignment of body, emotion, attention, and action; stable presence appears. 5. Conduit Level — a resonant, coherent wave in which a person acts and observes simultaneously, enabling coherent influence on the environment. Each level is described through four groups of markers: bodily markers (breath, tone, posture, motor rhythms); emotional markers (stability, amplitude, transition
