43 employment in this sector decreased as a result of the contraction of the economy /Figure 2/. Figure 2: Number of employed people by involvement in agricultural and non- agricultural sectors, 2012-2023 [8]. The distribution of wages in the Republic of Armenia varies greatly by sector. The high-tech sectors of "information and communication" and "finance and insurance" are the highest paid, where the average salary in 2024 was 862,049.0 and 905,420.0 drams, respectively. These two sectors, especially in the recent period of 2020-2023, have been showing constant growth in parallel with digitalization: the salary in the information and communication sector increased by 11.7%, 14.3%, 35.0% and 14.4%, respectively, compared to the previous year, and the financial and insurance sector by 4.7%, 3.9%, 33.7% and 30.7%, respectively. The largest sector of the economy, agriculture, has one of the lowest salaries - more than 4.5 times lower than the salary in the information and communication sector. However, a positive trend was recorded in 2023-2024, when it increased by 20.1% and 13.9%, respectively, compared to the previous year. This is certainly due to the technological improvement of the sector and the increase in demand for Armenian agricultural products in foreign markets. Thus, the sectoral analysis of the RA economy shows that the relationship between wages and productivity growth in the agricultural sector is disproportionate, while in high-tech sectors, such as finance and IT, wages are sensitive to changes in productivity.
