Oleksandra Lavrivska Jana Evangelisty Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic SPECIFICS OF THE METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING ENGLISH TO FOREIGN STUDENTS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS OF THE KARLOVY VARY REGION Abstract. The growing number of foreign pupils in Czech primary schools has significantly influenced the organization and methodology of English language teaching. This trend is particularly evident in the Karlovy Vary Region, where demographic decline among local families coincides with an increasing inflow of migrant and refugee children, primarily from Ukraine, Vietnam, and other post- Soviet countries. The aim of this study is to analyse the methodological specifics of teaching English to foreign pupils in primary schools of the Karlovy Vary Region and to identify effective pedagogical approaches that support both language acquisition and social integration. Foreign pupils often encounter a triple-language learning context, where English is acquired as a third language (L3), Czech serves as the language of schooling (L2), and the home language (L1) remains dominant. This configuration leads to linguistic interference, increased cognitive load, and delayed comprehension of classroom instructions.
