60 areas in Ukraine and abroad; to highlight the main forms of work of protected areas in the system of rational nature management, as well as to reveal methodological approaches to the use of objects of the nature reserve fund in the formation of research competencies of students of basic institutions of general secondary education. The main tasks of scientific study of the processes of rational nature management of protected areas of Ukraine are: - to reveal the features of territorial planning of protected areas in the natural and geographical zoning of Ukraine; - to characterize the elements of agroman-made impact, which must be taken into account during their study; - to identify objects, main activities, financing and taxation strategy of protected areas, development of their environmental management and audit; - to study the experience of the European Union in building a model of a global geoecosystem in environmental monitoring; - to apply the results obtained during the formation of research competencies of students of the New Ukrainian School. Presentation of the main material. The economics of nature management and protection of protected areas is based on the principles of preventive strategic management, the search for compromises and the least damage to nature, the coordination of spatial and temporal scales of natural and anthropogenic processes. The use of mathematical methods, one of which is cartographic and mathematical modeling, provides an opportunity to study the spatial location of objects of protected areas and their interaction with objects of economic activity.
